چکیده

Exporting to cultural heritage methods and tools used in industrial areas, where the profits can justify high modeling costs, may only be a starting point for cultural heritage modeling, but not a sustainable solution in sight of the economics of this application. A way to lower the costs is to automate the modeling procedure. This work presents a robust procedure for the automatic alignment of pairs of 3D views, the first problem encountered in the inodeling pipeline. The results of this paper, originally conceived to address the costs issue of cultural heritage modeling, can be profitably exploited also in other modeling applications.

POINT CLOUD MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES IN CULTURAL HERITAGE DOCUMENTATION Heritage BIM on the Move

Building information modelling (BIM) is becoming a useful approach in the documentation and enhancement of historical structures in a system termed historical BIM (HBIM). It is not easy to convert point clouds into a 3D model since the buildings concerned often have very irregular geometry. Therefore, more semi-automatic parameterisation tools are needed. Portable, user-navigable HBIM databases...

3d Modeling of Structures Using Break-lines and Corners in 3d Point Clowd Data

Recently, a laser scanner has been receiving more attention as a useful tool for real-time 3D data acquisition, and various applications such as city modeling, DTM generation and 3D modeling of cultural heritage were proposed. However, 3D Representation of historical structures from point cloud 3D data collected by laser scanner is still issues. In order to reduce the time, labor and skill for ...
